Unlocking the Power of Topology Optimization and Generative Design
Imagine a sealed chamber, filled with an inert gas. A robotic arm spreads a layer of fine metal powder—perhaps Stainless Steel 316L or Aluminum AlSi10Mg—across a build plate. The layer is just 20 to 60 microns thick. Then, a high-power ytterbium fiber laser, guided by your 3D CAD file, precisely scans the powder bed, melting and fusing the microscopic particles together. The build plate lowers, a new layer of powder is applied, and the process repeats, thousands of times.
