Our Die-Casting Material Options
Die-Casting uses a huge range of metal, making it ideal for many applications across nearly every industry.
  • Aluminum alloys are the most widely used in die casting due to their lightweight, high strength, and excellent corrosion resistance.
    Common Grades (International Standards):
    ADC12 (Japanese Standard JIS H5302):
    • Composition: Si 9.6-12.0%, Cu 1.5-3.5%, Fe ≤ 1.3%, Zn ≤ 1.0%
    • Characteristics: Excellent fluidity, ideal for thin-walled parts like automotive components and electronic housings.
    A380 (U.S. Standard ASTM B85):
    • Composition: Si 7.5-9.5%, Cu 3.0-4.0%, Fe ≤ 1.3%
    • Characteristics: High strength and heat resistance, used for engine brackets and gearboxes.
    AZ91D (Magnesium-Aluminum Alloy, ASTM B94):
    • Composition: Mg ≥ 8.5%, Al 8.3-9.7%, Zn 0.35-1.0%
    • Characteristics: Lightweight, used in aerospace and consumer electronics.
  • Zinc alloys produce high-surface-finish parts and are ideal for precision small components.
    Common Grades:
    Zamak 3 (ASTM B86):
    • Composition: Zn ≈ 96%, Al 3.5-4.3%, Cu ≤ 0.25%
    • Characteristics: Excellent fluidity, used for toys, zippers, and bathroom fixtures.
    Zamak 5 (Higher Copper Content):
    • Composition: Cu 0.7-1.1%, offers higher strength, suitable for hardware components.
    ZA-8 (8% Aluminum):
    • Improved creep resistance, used in high-temperature environments.
  • The lightest die-casting metals, used where weight reduction is critical.
    Common Grades:
    AZ91D (ASTM B94):
    • Composition: Mg 89%, Al 9%, Zn 1%
    • Characteristics: Used in automotive dashboards and laptop casings.
    AM60B:
    • Higher toughness and impact resistance, used in automotive seat frames.
  • Used for specialized applications requiring high conductivity, wear resistance, or corrosion resistance.
    Common Grades:
    C87850 (Silicon Brass):
    • Composition: Cu 81-85%, Si 4.0-6.0%
    • Characteristics: Resistant to seawater corrosion, used in marine components.
    C86500 (Manganese Bronze):
    • High strength, used in gears and bearings.
