Brass is a non-ferrous alloy of copper and zinc, widely valued in the manufacturing industry for its bright gold-like aesthetic, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior machinability. It is often referred to as the "Free-Machining" metal because it can be turned and milled at extremely high speeds with minimal tool wear, making it one of the most cost-effective metals for high-volume production.

We leverage Swiss-style lathes and automated turning centers to produce high-precision brass fittings, threaded inserts, and decorative hardware. Ultimate Machinability Brass C36000 sets the industry standard (100% rating) for machinability. It breaks into small chips easily. Allows for extremely fast cycle times, extended tool life, and superior surface precision.
Corrosion Resistance Highly resistant to water, salt, and atmospheric corrosion (does not rust like steel). Ideal for plumbing, marine hardware, and outdoor applications requiring long lifespans.
Aesthetic Appeal Has a bright, yellowish-gold appearance. It can be polished to a high luster. Perfect for decorative knobs, architectural hardware, and luxury goods without expensive plating.
Low Friction / Non-Sparking Brass does not spark when struck against other metals and has low surface friction. Safe for use in hazardous gas environments (Explosion-proof tools) and as bearing surfaces.
Antimicrobial Like copper, brass has natural antimicrobial properties (depending on copper content). Suitable for medical components and public door handles.

Cartridge Brass C26000 (70/30) Contains 70% Copper and 30% Zinc. More ductile and stronger than C36000 but harder to machine (chips are "gummier"). Excellent for cold forming. Ammunition casings, stamped parts, radiator cores, electrical terminals, deep drawn parts.
Naval Brass C46400 Alloyed with tin to inhibit dezincification (corrosion) in saltwater environments. High strength and rigidity compared to standard brass. Marine hardware, propeller shafts, valve stems, turnbuckles, underwater fittings.
Lead-Free Brass C46500 / Eco Brass Specially formulated to meet RoHS and REACH regulations by replacing lead with other elements (like Silicon). Slightly harder to machine than C360. Drinking water faucets, plumbing fittings in regulated markets, medical devices.

CNC Machining Guidelines for Brass

  • Speeds and Feeds: Because brass is free-cutting and dissipates heat well, we run it at very high RPMs and feed rates to maximize machine efficiency.
  • Chip Control: C36000 produces small, broken chips that evacuate easily. However, C26000 produces stringy chips, requiring "chip-breaking" cycles.
  • Lubrication: Minimal lubrication is needed compared to steel. We use light coolant primarily for thermal stability and chip flushing.
  • Tooling: Standard carbide tools work excellently. We ensure tools are dedicated to brass to prevent cross-contamination (iron particles) which could cause surface rust spots later.
