Pickled & Oiled (P&O) HRPO Hot rolled steel that has been acid-cleaned to remove scale and oiled. Offers a cleaner surface than standard HRS for better welding and painting. Racks: Server racks, industrial shelving, heavy-duty brackets that require painting.

Fabrication Guidelines for Mild Steel

  • Rust Prevention: Mild steel oxidizes (rusts) instantly if exposed to moisture. We apply oil during processing and recommend immediate post-processing (Powder Coating/Plating) after fabrication.
  • Welding: We typically use MIG welding for structural steel due to its speed and strength. Pre-heating is generally not required for low carbon grades like 1018.
  • Laser Cutting: We use oxygen-assist laser cutting for thick mild steel plates, which accelerates the burning process for faster cutting speeds.
  • Bending: Mild steel has predictable spring-back. For structural parts (like Q235), we ensure the bend radius is sufficient to prevent stress concentration, though it rarely cracks.
