For prototypes that must survive severe mechanical stress, vibration, or impact without fracturing, Axson UP 3691 is the ultimate solution. This premium polyurethane resin is engineered to simulate the properties of ABS/PC alloys (Polycarbonate/ABS blends) or high-grade PC. Unlike standard resins that prioritize either stiffness or flexibility, UP 3691 delivers both: it provides the structural rigidity of engineering plastics while maintaining exceptional shock absorption capabilities. Basic Characteristics & Composition

Axson UP 3691 is a three-component system designed for high-performance applications where failure is not an option.
  • ABS/PC Simulation: It mimics the premium feel and mechanical performance of high-end injection molded thermoplastics used in safety equipment.
  • Extreme Impact Resistance: It offers one of the highest impact strength ratings among vacuum casting resins, resisting cracks even under sudden blows.
  • Rigidity: Unlike PP-like resins (which are flexible), UP 3691 remains rigid and holds its shape under load, making it suitable for structural housings.
  • Temperature Stability: Offers better heat resistance than standard ABS simulants, maintaining properties in warm environments.

Color Options

  • Standard: White / Off-White.
  • Coloring: The neutral base color allows for easy tinting to specific RAL/Pantone shades during the casting process.
  • Finishing: Its rigid surface is excellent for sanding and painting. It is an ideal substrate for high-gloss automotive finishes or soft-touch coatings.

2. PROCESSING 
  • Mixing: Requires precise mixing of Polyol, Isocyanate, and often a Catalyst to control the reaction speed and final properties.
  • Vacuum Casting: Must be processed in a vacuum chamber to eliminate micro-bubbles which would act as stress concentrators and reduce impact strength.
  • Pot Life: Short (approx. 5-8 minutes). JUCHENG technicians must work quickly and efficiently to fill molds.
Demolding: 60 - 90 minutes at 70°C.
 
3. PRECAUTIONS 
  • Moisture Sensitivity: Highly sensitive to humidity. Material containers are purged with nitrogen after use.
  • Mold Life: Can be slightly more aggressive to silicone molds than standard resins; we use protective release agents.

4. STORAGE 
  • Conditions: Store in a dry place between 15°C and 25°C.

Vacuum Casting Process Compatibility

  • Silicone Tooling: Compatible with standard silicone molds.
  • Inserts: Excellent for encapsulating metal inserts (threaded brass inserts) due to its high strength holding the metal securely.
  • Machining: Cured parts are rigid and machine much like real ABS/PC. They can be drilled, tapped, and CNC machined for modifications.

High Modulus: Stiffer than PP/PE simulants; holds dimensional tolerance well. Cost: Premium high-performance resin is more expensive than standard types.
Heat Resistance: Good thermal stability (~95°C). Complexity: Three-component mix requires precise handling.
Paintability: Excellent surface for cosmetic finishing.
