CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. It means a computer tells the cutting machine exactly what to do. It's like giving the machine a digital map to follow. There are a few ways this awesome machine works with polycarbonate:

CNC cutting polycarbonate is often the first step. It's like using a super-accurate cookie cutter to slice a big sheet of this plastic into smaller pieces. This gets the material ready for more detailed work.

For more detailed work, we use CNC machining polycarbonate. This is where the machine uses different spinning tools to carve out shapes, make holes, and create designs. It has to be very careful not to get too hot from all the friction.

A similar method is CNC routing polycarbonate. This is great for cutting out shapes from large sheets and smoothing the edges. The machine moves really fast to make sure the cuts are clean and smooth.

Another common term is polycarbonate CNC milling. This is almost the same as machining. A spinning tool with sharp teeth (called a bit) carefully shaves away tiny pieces of plastic to create the exact shape we want. It’s like whittling a piece of wood, but with a super-smart robot doing it!

  • Just Right: The perfect speed makes a clean cut and carries the heat away in the tiny plastic chips it shaves off. It takes skill to find this "just right" speed!
